Frances Guerin teaches in the School of Arts at University of Kent, Canterbury.  Besides Through Amateur Eyes, featured on Rorotoko, she is the author of A Culture of Light: Cinema and Technology in 1920s Germany (Minnesota, 2005) and co-editor of The Image and the Witness: Trauma, Memory and Visual Culture (Wallflower, 2007).  Her book The Truth is Always Grey: From Grisaille to Gerhard Richter is forthcoming.  Guerin’s articles have appeared in international journals, including Cinema Journal, Screening the Past, and Film and History.  You can read her blog at fxreflects.blogspot.com.
