To previous comment: I see your point, but don’t you think your point is minor?  When you say television or film, it’s just about the way in which the genre is distributed.  What’s the major difference between television film and theater film?  I think Grodal seems to be putting some important conclusions here about evolutionary development and the appeal of art.

This is immensely interesting at the level of content and theme and frighteningly banal at the level of even beginning to recognise film as film. There is virtually nothing in Grodal’s work which is specific to cinema as opposed to television or prose fiction or drama.
